Mr. Saha who was leaning to the right or left side when he walk. Long memory, I was in a "Arts" stream. Graduated in 1979 after spending five years in a high school. I remember Ato Alemu's advise to get back to school and took exam. I was one of the students who didn't accept the call and I paid the price by adding one more year in a high school. If we were in the same class for a biology class, my teacher was an Indian and he was very genius.

I was a teacher volunteer at Wingate in 1970/71 and also taught at Ato Asfaw's school next door. I ran the Wingate Scheme (similar to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award) for 150 students and particularly remember our weekend expeditions to Lake Langano and to Wonchi crater. Derek Bullock was the headmaster and I remember Derek Cullen and his wife, Mebrat. The school play that year was Twelfth Night, with all the parts played by boys. Malvolio was the star of the show. I am now 63 and will be returning to Ethiopia this Christmas for the first time since 1971. It would be amazing to meet up with anyone who remembers me. Laurie Prowse

  • Alliance Ethio-Francaise (AEF), le lapin (guest) wrote 8 years ago:
Its a good language school. It hosts lots of events like music festivals, and exibitions. For me, i particularly love the music festivals held in alliance ethio francais. The first time i went, i completely fell in love with the music and the french culture. Thats when i signed up for french lessons. ...the worst mistake i ever made For me i found that the teachers of alliance have a depleted morale and energy to teach. One particular teacher, lets call him m. Birhanu....crushed my spirit when he told me i will never learn french, on my 3 rd week of taking french lessons. In my opinion, i like what alliance stands for and i would love to learn about the french culture more, but unless alliance does something about its teachers, thats not the place i'd advice anyone to enroll in
