I am looking for the address of Svein and Britta Nelson of Norway who were missionaries in Dilla and Dessie, Ethiopia. If any one knows their address, please forward mine to them so they can contact me. (or forward theirs to me so I can contact them. Few years after it opened in the late 1950, early 1960s EC, not sure the exact year I was a 3rd grader for 2 years (yeas I repeated 3rd grade, I think I bummed up big time) then did 4th grade there then moved to another school (English School). I went and just picked from outside to see how it looked when I was there in 1998. But this school is always in my mind. I feel obligated to do something for this school somehow. I once tried to start pen pal groups between some interested kids in a well known elementary school in Irvine, CA where my daughter is and students in this school but never worked through it. I was hoping to eventually have the two schools be sister schools. Well I still feel I need to do something for the school. How about starting a fan club? And see if we can do something in the future for that school. If anyone is interested send me an e-mail. My e-mail address is shola1982@aol.com. Thanks

I agree-The pre-1974 Wingate boarding school was really the best school in the country and produced high level renowned intellectuals and leaders in many fields. As an old Wingater there is a lot I miss out of the wonderful life in Wingate. The Head boy-Prefect system, the flag parade, the prep hall, the cross country, the "Standard", the Sports Day, Wingate Scheme, Scout, the lower field recreation, the short walk after meal....The famous Misir Wot at the dining hall, the "Banna" we used to wear in the dorms.....
Unfortunately, genuine wingaters whom I know closely perished by the savage Derge. These young Ethiopians sacrificed their lives for the love of their conntry and the people. They could not stand injustice and decide to fight for freedom.

We were in Merkato on 19.4.11, with Frank, our very experienced and long-time Addis resident English host and guide. The constant and VERY persistent and even mildly aggressive hassle from touts and shopkeepers made for an uncomfortable experience, until we found one stallholder in the souvenir section who patiently demonstrated his wares without pressure to buy. We came away very satisfied with our beautiful painted drum, woven-grass bowls, bags, scarves and traditional dress.
I endorse previous comment above - do NOT go here alone.
